Sono passati 14 anni da Gli Incredibili e seppur i personaggi non siano invecchiati, lo è la storia. Brad Bird in questo sequel ha inserito temi più maturi e qualche termine “scurrile”, ed entrambi gli aspetti del film hanno portato critiche a cui il regista ha risposto tramite twitter.
A chi si lamentava del linguaggio, Bird ha spiegato che il film è PG (quindi i bambini devono essere accompagnati dai genitori).

Successivamente ha spiegato che non può scrivere un film per bambini di 4 anni che non riescono a tenere alta la soglia di attenzione per più di 1 minuto.

Il regista ha inoltre posto definitivamente a tutte le possibili controversie spiegando che non solo perché un film è animato vuol dire che sia per bambini.
Everybody calm down. All discussions polarize so quickly in social media (what I like least about it). @MonkeyTigerHead doesn’t want his kids to cuss and was respectful about saying so. I respectfully took issue with the idea that animation is a kids medium. No one is bad here!
