J.K Rowling, l’autrice che ha regalato la serie di Harry Potter, ha fatto notizia per un post che ha pubblicato. L’autrice ha lasciato molti fan sbalorditi quando ha apertamente condiviso il supporto per Maya Forstater, una ricercatrice che è stata licenziata dal suo lavoro dopo aver detto che le persone non possono cambiare il loro sesso biologico.
La ricercatrice ha lavorato presso il Center for Global Development come borsista. È stata licenziata dopo aver fatto commenti transonici che molti hanno interpretato come denigratori della comunità trans, e la Forstater ha recentemente perso il suo caso giudiziario che contesta la sua risoluzione.
Questo licenziamento è ciò che ha portato la Rowling a condividere il suo sostegno a Forstater su Twitter. L’autrice ha pubblicato un breve messaggio che dice:

Poco dopo che il messaggio è stato pubblicato, i social media si sono accesi con reazioni al post. I fan della Rowling e Harry Potter hanno ammesso il loro sgomento per l’opinione. Celebrità come Jameela Jamil hanno difeso la comunità LGBTQ alla luce del respingimento ed è stata raggiunta da GLAAD che ha affermato che le dichiarazioni di Rowling “mettono a rischio le persone trans“. Ramos in una nota afferma:

Rowling, i cui libri hanno dato ai bambini la speranza di poter lavorare insieme per creare un mondo migliore, ora si è allineata con un’ideologia anti-scienza che nega l’umanità di base delle persone transgender. 1) Your love for the books is still valid. The books don’t have transphobic themes & the newer stuff has been trash for ages. It’s also OK if you want nothing to with the books anymore.
