Black Panther continua ad essere una delizia in termine di premi oltre che di ricezione del pubblico per i Marvel Studios, infatti, la pellicola di Ryan Coogler riesce a portarsi a casa anche un Grammy Awards.
Delle 8 nomination ricevute, Black Panther ne ha vinte due, diventando la prima pellicola Marvel che di fatto ha vinto un Grammy.
La pellicola ha vinto il Grammy per la Miglior Soundtrack curata da Visual Media di Ludwig Göransson. La produzione non è il primo Grammy che riceve, infatti, ne aveva già guadagnati molti tra cui un Golden Globe ed un Critics Choice Awards. La pellicola inoltre è candidata nella stessa categoria anche agli Academy Awards 2019.
Black Panther: The Album, una compilation di canzoni curate dal rapper premio Pulitzer, Kendrick Lamar è stato nominato per altre sette categorie di cui ne ha portata a casa solo un’altra.
E’ “King’s Dead” di Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future e James Blake, a vincere il Grammy per la miglior performance Rap. La canzone condivide la vittoria con “Bubblin” di Anderson Paak, purtroppo “King’s Dead” perde contro la canzone di Drake, “God’s Plan” il Grammy per Miglior canzone Rap.
Black Panther: The Album seppur solo con due statuette era presente in molte delle principali categorie dei Grammy tra cui Miglior Album dell’anno, che alla fine è andato a Golden Hour di Kacey Musgraves.
“All The Stars” di kendrick Lamar e SZA perde tutti i Grammy per cui era nominata, tra cui una per Miglior Performance Rap in favore di This is America di Childish Gambino.
Un titolo Marvel era già arrivato ai Grammy nel 2002 grazie a Spider-Man di Sam Raimi, la cui soundtrack era realizzata da Danny Elfman.
